The Story Behind Almost Sent

Why we made this

We've all been there, typing out a message to someone, pouring our heart into every word, only to delete it before hitting send. Maybe it was too vulnerable. Maybe the timing wasn't right. Maybe we were afraid of how they'd react.

Almost Sent is a space for those messages. The ones that never made it. The confessions, the apologies, the "I miss you"s, and the "I wish I had told you"s that live quietly in our hearts.

But it's not just for the heavy stuff. Maybe you never told someone how much they inspire you. Maybe you wanted to thank a stranger for their kindness. Maybe you've been meaning to say "I'm proud of you" or "You made my day", but the moment passed. Those words belong here too.

This isn't about getting closure or expecting a response. It's about letting go, releasing words into the world that were always meant to exist, even if they were never meant to be received.

How to use this

  1. Click "Write a note" on the main page to open the form.
  2. Enter a first name or initial - just enough to know who it's for. No full names, no identifiable details. Protect their privacy and yours.
  3. Write your unsent message - keep it under 200 characters. Sometimes the most powerful things are said in few words.
  4. Hit submit - and watch your words join the archive of things almost said by people just like you.

The rules

  • Be kind. This is a space for vulnerability, not hate.
  • Protect privacy: no full names, phone numbers, or social handles.
  • Keep it heartfelt, not harmful.
  • Write about your feelings, not exposing others.
  • If it feels unsafe to post, don't.

Every message here represents a moment of courage, the courage to feel, to write, and to let go. Thank you for being part of this.
